Saint John, NB – The Turnbull (NB) Chapter of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society has announced a special project to celebrate the 2024 Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Centennial.

The Turnbull (NB) Chapter will lead the production of banners showcasing 100 New Brunswick RCAF veterans and service persons who served with the RCAF between 1917 to 2024. Sponsored by Irving Oil and honoring the service of veterans in the province, the banners will be displayed at various sites across New Brunswick from April to November 2024.

The nomination process for the submission of names of individuals who may be featured on banners is now open. The banners will represent all ranks and all trades, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity and nominees may have served in the Regular or Reserve RCAF or have received an Honorary appointment.

“Beginning with the First World War in the air forces of Canada and England, to those who serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force today, many thousands of New Brunswickers have proudly served their countries and we look forward to the opportunity to recognize them,” says Harold Wright, Secretary of the Turnbull (NB) Chapter.

“As a province with a rich history in aviation, and with the utmost respect for those who have served, we are honored to be part of this special project,” says Darren Gillis, Chief Marketing Officer of Irving Oil. “We congratulate the Royal Canadian Air Force on its upcoming centennial anniversary – a milestone our company will also be marking in 2024.”
