We strive to raise the bar for responsible operations and are constantly working to reduce our environmental footprint. And we’ve made important progress by continuously investing in our operations and performance.
We’ve also developed a passion for protecting local wildlife. We believe that wildlife care and conservation means taking concrete actions to protect endangered or at-risk species. It also means educating each other and inspiring future generations of conservationists so that we can all continue to enjoy these species for many years to come.
Through our long-standing partnership with the New England Aquarium, we support continuous research on one of the most endangered species of whales on the planet. We also help inspire future generations in the importance of protecting marine mammals by funding educational outreach programs.
For many decades, our company and leadership have partnered with Ducks Unlimited to protect wetlands throughout Atlantic Canada. We also extended this partnership into our backyard, by designating a 250-acre wetland beside our refinery as a Ducks Unlimited protected area – the only refinery in Canada to do so.
As a responsible operator and energy producer, our focus is not only to comply with government regulations but to go beyond them, by being an early adopter of stringent fuel specifications and further investing in emission control technology.
We are stopping our use of plastic straws at our Big Stop Restaurants to help protect local wildlife.
Our company proudly supports requests from the communities we serve, focusing our good energy in the areas of environment, education and helping families.
