• The first Canadian oil company to offer customers high octane gasoline without the use of lead additives
• The first deepwater port with a single buoy mooring in the Western Hemisphere, Irving Canaport Terminal
• The first and only refinery on the East Coast of North America to receive crude oil from The Acropolis, an Ultra Large Crude Carrier (ULCC)
• The first Canadian oil company to own and operate double-hulled tankers
• The first Canadian oil company to offer customers low-sulphur gasoline, five years ahead of regulation
• The first Canadian oil company to offer customers low-sulphur diesel ahead of regulation
