Our refinery’s Ducks Unlimited area brings employees and community members closer to nature.
Our company is a major supporter of Ducks Unlimited Canada. Over the years, we have worked with the organization on many projects to help preserve and conserve North American wetlands. Arthur Irving has volunteered with DU since 1976, serving as President in 1986 and 1987 and as a Honourary Director since 1995.
Since 1996, we have partnered with Ducks Unlimited in restoring and enhancing a wetland closer to home - nearly 250 acres of the Little River Wetland by our Saint John Refinery.
With an initial investment of more than $2.5 million to enhance the wetland, we continue to maintain this Ducks Unlimited protected area. The marsh environment provides a high quality habitat for a wide range of wildlife including deer, eagles, waterfowl and amphibians.
The pathway through this wetland, known as “The Fox Trail,” is an ideal area for learning about and experiencing nature – our employees regularly enjoy the trail, and we often offer tours to local schools and the greater community.
