The Durling Family
In October 2012, my daughter Taylor was diagnosed with Henoch-Schonlein Purpura (HSP). It's a virus that causes a number of symptoms, however they are not sure of the cause. One of the issues it can cause is kidney disease. 40 per cent of HSP patients have kidney involvement but it can just get better on its own. 18 per cent of HSP patients get kidney disease. In February 2013, on Taylor's first trip to the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, NS, she was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy, a disorder of the kidney. We now have to travel to the IWK often for Taylor’s checkups. I am very thankful for Irving Oil’s Fuel the Care program, it really helps with the extra cost of traveling to Halifax, where Taylor receives the best care possible.
