Our operations span throughout eastern Canada, northeastern U.S, the UK and Ireland.
Starting in Canada
Irving Oil began in 1924 with a single garage and service station in Bouctouche, NB. Today, we are pleased to have our corporate headquarters in Saint John, New Brunswick, which has been our home since our founder, K.C. Irving began doing business there in 1931. As our retail network expanded throughout Atlantic Canada and into Quebec, so too did our branch offices, bulk storage facilities and marine terminals.
Expanding into the U.S.
Our retail business has a central office in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and as our retail network continues to grow, our customers are being served at new sites opening as far south as Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York. Our commercial business also has a strong presence throughout New England, with several of our marine terminals and inland asphalt terminals located throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont.
Now operating in Ireland
In 2016, we acquired the Whitegate refinery located near Cork, Ireland. The Whitegate facility is Ireland’s sole refinery, processing up to 75,000 barrels of crude oil per day and producing transportation and heating fuels such as gasoline, diesel and kerosene. Built in 1959, it has a workforce of 160 employees as well as many contract personnel.
